Klurhammon

Klurhammon is a world in Line War "of no tactical importance". It was the home of a compact, self contained group of individualists who "regarded the rest of the Polity with either indifference of suspicion". Most of the population lived in a sprawling eponymous city. Many of the planet's two million inhabitants were haiman, and it was in fact the home planet of Orlandine. The economy was largely based on the export of "bimolecular construction units" grown on high tech farms. As its tactical importance was unimportant, the system was not heavily armed.

I'll stay and do what I can for them.

—Klurmamon Runcible AI

The planet was ravaged by one of Erebus's worm ships, the main city wrecked and the population decimated in a seemingly purposeless attack. Rather than electing to eject via rail gun, the AI chose to engage using particle beams and missles, to no effect. The wormship's response was an eight foot wide particle beam that got the AI, its runcible (which the people of Klurhammon weren't entirely sure they needed in the first place), and the city of Klurhammon. The worm ship then withdrew, but left behind Jain tech to subvert the population and bedevil Cormac's team when they went to investigate.
