Jain technology is widely used to refer to the technological mycelium designed by the Jain AIs as a weapon to wipe out civilization. It activates when a Jain Node comes into contant with a sentiant being of a spacefaring race, and then comes under their control. For a while, it gives them incredible power which was intended to be used to disrupt the society in which they live.

After a while, the Jain technology will 'seed' inside it's host, generating hundreds of new nodes. Eventually, the host is converted entirely into nodes, which are then released, ready to come into contact with new sentients and start the cycle over.

Jain technology has resulted in the downfall and collapse of the original Jain civilization, the Csorians, the Atheter and the Makers. It also poses a serious threat to the Polity.

The Dragon was created using Jain technology, but does not contain any actual Jain tech - only derivatives. Likewise, the Polity has reverse engineered Jain tech to produce items such as 'little doctor' mycelium.
